The Department of Defense said two soldiers from New Hampshire and Texas have been killed in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department said in a news release Saturday that Staff Sgt. Kyle R. Warren, of Manchester, N.H., and Capt. Jason E. Holbrook of Burnet, Texas, were killed when an improvised explosive device hit their military vehicle.
Both were 28.

Norman Terry took First Place on Lake Palestine in July by landing five bass totaling 18.30 pounds during the Jacksonville Bass Club's monthly tournament.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia's time with the Rangers has come to an end.
The Rangers traded their Opening Day catcher to the Red Sox on Saturday for right-handed pitcher Roman Mendez, first baseman Chris McGuiness, a player to be named and cash considerations.
Mendez has been assigned to short-season Class A Spokane in the Northwest League, with McGuiness going to Class A Bakersfield in the California League.

Formby began broadcasting daily commentary as the "Day by Day Philosopher" in October 1955 and was featured on NBC's "Today Show" in 2007 for hosting more than 16,000 episodes of the six-day-a-week program without missing any.
He eventually reached 17,000 episodes, according to KPAN, and was billed as having "the longest running consecutive radio broadcast by an individual in the United States."
